Rojales · Torrevieja · Orihuela
The subsidies, honestly
Two markets that look alike on the surface. The difference between them is structural, not marginal — and that decides whether a battery, a heat pump or just panels makes sense for you.

PVPC surplus compensation
50% discount on municipal property tax (IBI) for 3 years for homes with solar PV or solar thermal systems in Torrevieja.
Example (illustrative): A villa worth €400,000 typically has a valor catastral (cadastral/taxable value) of around €200,000. IBI = 0.40% × €200,000 = €800/year. With the 50% solar discount you save €400 a year — €1,200 over three years. The actual amount depends on your property's valor catastral, shown on your IBI receipt.
Conditions: Fixed 50% rate, for 3 years. Must be applied for (bonificación rogada). The installation must meet minimum requirements (solar PV ≥ 5 kW per 100 m² of built area, or solar thermal ≥ 4 m² collector surface) and must not be legally mandatory. Rate and conditions per the applicable municipal ordinance (Torrevieja, BOP Alicante nr. 247, 29.12.2020). Example figures are illustrative.
A €10,000 villa installation — Rojales vs Torrevieja
Same hardware, same labour, same kWp. Different municipality, different outcome.
A €10,000 villa installation in Rojales gives a €1,000 IRPF deduction, 50% IBI for 5 years, and 95% ICIO on the installation fee. The same installation in Torrevieja gives ~€1,900–2,800 in confirmed deductions (IRPF + 50% IBI for 3 years). The difference is structural, not marginal.
